Selank Dosage Guide

Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic analog of tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) that modulates immune function. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Selank was approved in Russia in 2009 for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and neurasthenia.

Research has demonstrated that Selank modulates GABA-ergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, increases BDNF expression, and possesses both anxiolytic and nootropic properties. Unlike benzodiazepines, Selank does not cause sedation, cognitive impairment, or dependence. It has also shown immunomodulatory effects through enhancement of IL-6 and T-cell activity.

Selank is administered intranasally, similar to Semax:

The Russian clinical dosage is 75 mcg per nostril (150 mcg total) administered 3 times daily, for a total daily dose of 450 mcg. Research protocols may use higher doses up to 1500 mcg/day. The N-Acetyl variant is significantly more potent and dosed lower.

Selank is administered 2–3 times daily via intranasal spray:

• First dose: Morning, for anxiolytic coverage throughout the day.
• Second dose: Midday or early afternoon.
• Third dose: Evening. Unlike Semax, Selank does not typically interfere with sleep and may actually improve sleep quality through anxiolysis.

Cycling: Standard Russian clinical courses are 14 days, which can be repeated after a 1–2 week break. Research protocols may extend to 30 days. Selank does not produce tolerance, dependence, or withdrawal effects — a key distinction from benzodiazepines.

Selank is typically supplied as a ready-to-use 0.15% nasal spray. For lyophilized powder:

• Step 1: Add bacteriostatic water. For a 10 mg vial, add 2 mL for 5 mg/mL.
• Step 2: Gently swirl to dissolve.
• Step 3: Transfer to a sterile nasal spray bottle (calibrated for consistent spray volume).
• Step 4: Store at 2–8°C. Use within 14 days.

Intranasal technique: One spray per nostril per administration. Alternate the starting nostril. Breathe gently through the nose after spraying. Selank may also be administered subcutaneously, though intranasal is the standard and best-studied route.

• 150–450 mcg/day: Very well-tolerated. Mild nasal irritation in some subjects. Occasional reports of mild fatigue during initial days as anxiety levels normalize.
• 450–1000 mcg/day: Generally well-tolerated. Rare reports of headache or nasal congestion.
• 1000+ mcg/day: Limited data at high doses. No serious adverse events reported in available literature.

In clinical studies, Selank demonstrated comparable anxiolytic efficacy to medazepam (a benzodiazepine) without the associated sedation, cognitive impairment, or withdrawal effects.

Selank is approved in Russia for GAD and neurasthenia but is not FDA-approved. It is available for research purposes in most jurisdictions.

While Selank has a favorable safety profile, it should not replace prescribed anxiolytic medications without medical guidance. Subjects with autoimmune conditions should use caution due to Selank's immunomodulatory properties. Consult a healthcare provider before use.
