Overview

Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino acid peptide naturally produced by the thymus gland. It plays a critical role in immune system maturation and regulation by promoting T-cell differentiation and enhancing dendritic cell function. It was first isolated by Allan Goldstein in the 1970s.

Approved in over 35 countries (marketed as Zadaxin) for treatment of hepatitis B and C, it has also shown efficacy as an adjunct therapy for cancer immunotherapy and vaccine enhancement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it gained attention for its potential to modulate hyperinflammatory immune responses. It is one of the most clinically validated immune-modulating peptides.
