Thymosin Beta-4
moderateThe full-length 43-amino acid peptide from which TB-500 is derived, with broad tissue repair, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties.
Overview
Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4) is a 43-amino acid peptide that is the most abundant member of the beta-thymosin family. It is found in virtually all cell types except red blood cells and plays a fundamental role in tissue development, repair, and regeneration. TB-500, the more commonly used research peptide, is actually a synthetic fragment representing the active region of Thymosin Beta-4.
Tβ4 works primarily through its interaction with G-actin, regulating actin polymerization which is essential for cell migration, a critical step in wound healing. It promotes angiogenesis, reduces inflammation, decreases scar formation (anti-fibrotic), and has demonstrated remarkable cardioprotective effects in animal models of myocardial infarction. Clinical trials have explored its use in corneal wound healing (under the name RGN-259) and cardiac repair. The full-length peptide may offer broader biological activity compared to the TB-500 fragment.
